What a stunner! The Welsh Dresser is truly a beautiful piece of antique furniture history! As far as we know it was imported into Australia from Wales in the early 1800's, this dresser is made from Elm & Baltic Pine and is as solid and heavy as they come!
The patina is captured all over, the worn handles & draws only add to the character and history of this piece. As Kym restored this item he stumbled across square handmade nails, a telling sign of its age.
If you are looking for a piece of furniture to make a statement in you kitchen or living area, this is the dresser for you. The underneath cupboards with shelves offer plenty of room for extra storage. This dresser can be used to display all of your favourite decorative pieces.
Kym Carslake is a bespoke furniture maker, who resides in Rylstone NSW. Kym restores old pieces of Australian furniture & also uses salvaged timbers found around Australia to create brand new pieces of furniture.

Handcrafted furniture, australian inspired homewares & gifts: the FOLKOLOGIE story
The story of every day Folk.
Through our deep love and passion for all things regional & australiana, Folkologie was born as a result of a furniture craftsman and a retail designer wanting to bring something a little special, quirky & creative to the aussie consumer.
Kymbo our master furniture craftsman has been salvaging and saving historical pieces of timber for some 20 plus years. A builder by trade, formerly based in Boggabri NSW, Kymbo has spent the better part of his working life collecting incredibly old and precious timbers from all over the NSW region and repurposing these finds into stunning pieces of one off unique furniture designs. His ability to make the old new and current again can be seen in all of his work. Kymbo says ‘the timber I save determines the furniture piece’. Every single bit he salvages is recycled and reworked into something new, often working with timbers that are 100+ years old.
Carol a visual merchandiser & retail designer by trade has spent her whole life in ‘shops’. Inspired by small scale, old school retail, and by the creativity of our homegrown aussie artists, makers, and designers Carol has literally been sourcing and collecting the names of these creative gems over the years with the intention to showcase them in her store one day! It has always been Carol's goal to open up a retail concept in regional NSW, with the focus on small runs of unique, creative & quirky goods. Carol looks to partner with makers who upcycle and recycle materials wherever they can. Adding to this her desire to bring something a little fresh & fun to the table can be seen across the Folkologie store.
“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful. ― William Morris”
